Use of meta_key_search

It should work if $metadata contains the correct form for the value, you want to find. That's something I forgot in the first post:

// If your custom field is a CHECKBOX: The value must enclosed by curly brackets
$metadata = '{Demo Value}';
// For all others this isn't necessary
$metadata = 'Demo Value';

// Your search
$args = array( 'meta_key_search'  => array( 'tp_meta_pub_custom_label' => $metadata ) );

Please note in addition, that this meta key search is currently only a "is equal search" over the field "meta_value" in the table "teachpress_pub_meta".

Use of meta_key_search

Hi, I think the correct code should be this. Please note: tp_meta_pub_custom_label is a placeholder for the ID of the custom field, which is displayed in the meta data screen for publications.

$args = array(
            'meta_key_search'       => array( 'tp_meta_pub_custom_label' => '{Open Access}' )
        );
$array = TP_Publications::get_publications( $args );

Show and work a metadata.

Pages will not changed automatically after their creation. Unfortunately, you need to change existing pages manually. The second code contains just examples, which you can use inside the tp_my_shortcode method, you added to the functions.php

overwrite repeated entries

I have a publication list that is going to be updated along the year. The easiest way to do that is to upload regularly a new bibtex list, which will include all entries of a given year.

Let's say I have 10 publications in 2018 already listed in my site. I have noticed that if I upload a new bibtex list with one new entry (10 + 1 entry), I'll get a database containing the new entry plus 10 duplicated entries.

It would be nice to make the plugin to check for possible duplicated entries (in this case, 10) and add to the database only the new ones.

author_name style "short"

Is it possible to use initials for first names instead of full names? The current author_name="initials" returns "van der Vaart, Ludwig C" but for ~100 author papers that gets really clunky. Would be good if we had author_name="short" returning something like "L. C. van der Vaart".

Add the ability to disable (or customize) currently hardcoded text

In some bibliographies the current hardcoded texts, such as "In: " or "Links: ", are not desirable because they are superfluous by context or styling. For instance I need to apply the following patch each time I update teachpress: teachpress.txt

It would be nice to have an option to disable these hardcoded texts, or to customize them (in which case, of course, i18n would not apply).

Punctuation lost after import publications

Wonderful project, thank you. I noticed that a dot after an author's abbreviated second name (e.g. John R. Smith) in the BibTex file disappears after importing. Is this intentional? I know that one can insert it manually, but when (re)importing from a big file that is being changed constantly, this is not ideal. Thank you in advance!

Additional Publication Type: Media

With the increased emphasis on "Impact of research", I was thinking it would be good to add a "Media" publication type. This category would capture Press Releases, Newspaper Coverage, Newsletters etc etc. I was thinking it could be made somewhat general with the following reference format that sort of conforms with APA:

Author, A. (Date). Title of article in sentence case, Publication Name, [Publication Type]. Retrieved from URL.

So the fields that would be required:

  • Author
  • Date
  • Title
  • Publisher
  • Publication Type > I would see this as freeform text with the idea you could add "Press Release" or "Newspaper Article" etc. This would make the overall category more general.
  • URL
