/sdcard/Android/data inaccessible on Android 11

The password is now stable and only randomly initialised the first time. The credentials and ports can also be modified in a preference file.

thats great.

and yes agree with disabling the multi-threading.

Is there another apk you want me to test? or you think its fine.

Some feedback. Can you please make the password/port at a minimum configurable? Any tool I use, i'd want to be able to store the connection so I can quickly edit these files without retyping every time a new password. The password seemed to change on me a few times.

As far as usability, it works as expected for typical use. :) I did run into some problems with using a multi-threaded tool against it as seen below.

I am getting intermittent errors on the ftp server. It eventually crashed. I've attached the generated log with traces to help debug.

I'm using rclone to transfer and the crash/errors could very well be the multi-treaded nature of rclone (default is 4 threads). But thought it might be good from a testing perspective.

log.txt

Also note that if I run rclone single threaded I didn't get any errors but there may be a race condition or something in the ftp implementation. If i use 1 thread I didn't get errors but as soon as I turn it to more than 1, it starts erroring intermittantly. Not sure if this is worth looking into.

Not specifying any IPv4 address breaks IPv4 connectivity

I have a tinc network that only uses IPv6 internal addresses. network.conf only contains one Address line specifying the IPv6 address (/128) and one Network line specifying the /64 subnet.

As soon as I connect to the network, all IPv4 connectivity fails. Trying to ping IPv4 addresses or hostnames result in "no route to host".

When another Address line specifying an IPv4 address is added to network.conf, IPv4 works again when connected.

I just tested this config again. Running traceroute to 8.8.8.8, I can see the first hop is my router's local address, so internet traffic is not traveling through the VPN. Is this a bug then?

This is with Tinc App version 0.31 on Android 10, on a Redmi Note 7 device flashed with Pixel Experience ROM.

Not specifying any IPv4 address breaks IPv4 connectivity

To be precise, I had this network.conf for a while:

Address = some:ipv6:address::1/128
Address = some.ipv4.address/32
Route = some:ipv6:address::/64

I did not specify AllowBypass or AllowFamily in the file, yet I still have IPv4 Internet connectivity. Is this to be expected?

Thanks for the information. One more question though: right now, I have added one IPv4 Address, and have not specified AllowBypass (so it should be defaulted to false). I do have IPv4 connectivity to the internet this way. From the wording of AllowBypass, it seems like connectivity to IPv4 internet should be blocked in this case?

/sdcard/Android/data inaccessible on Android 11

Could another possibility be to allow the user to specify an arbitrary path to hold the configs instead? The user could then just use /sdcard/mytinc/ or any path they like. You could then leave the default to the /sdcard/Android/data/org.pacien.tincapp/ for backward compatibility but allow it to be overwritten.

Perhaps I'm missing something that would prevent this from wording?

adb shell bramble:/ $ cd /storage/sdcard0/Android/data/org.pacien.tincapp /system/bin/sh: cd: /storage/sdcard0/Android/data/org.pacien.tincapp: No such file or directory d /storage/sdcard1/Android/data/org.pacien.tincapp < /system/bin/sh: cd: /storage/sdcard1/Android/data/org.pacien.tincapp: No such file or directory 2|bramble:/ $

Those don't exist. This isn't a location issue. Android 11 specifically denies access to the sdcard data directories except for media. Without changes to allow us to use a different location, there will soon be no way to use this app as a person running stock android won't be able to edit configs.

Select default trafic route. (feature request)

Is it good idea to make option to select default route, if found more than 1 node with 0.0.0.0/0 route? For example I have multiple nodes with same routes (0.0.0.0/0), but trafic is going through first node of list sorted by name. I think it can be manually managed by set priority of same routes.

Yes, this solution is working well, but cant be managed dynamically. Maybe it can be managed by for example clicking on routes inside app?

/sdcard/Android/data inaccessible on Android 11

The documentation states that the data directory will be accessible on Android 11 via the standard file manager or adb however on my Pixel 4a 5g it is not.

bramble:/ $ cd /sdcard/Android/data/tin /system/bin/sh: cd: /sdcard/Android/data/tin: No such file or directory 2|bramble:/ $ cd /sdcard/Android/data/
bramble:/sdcard/Android/data $ ls ls: .: Permission denied 1|bramble:/sdcard/Android/data $ ls- ^C 130|bramble:/sdcard/Android/data $ ls -al ls: .: Permission denied

Without being able to access that directory, there is no way to customize tinc. Can we have a way to configure the path to these or some other way of importing the configs? Thank-you!
