Paperless skipping Inline Attachments

The reason is, that many html mails like to embed images in their mails, and they do that as inline attachments. Since paperless accepts both PNG and JPG as documents and adds them to its database, this check was put in place.

Example. I get mails from my internet provider. Some contain Invoices as attached pdf documents, some contain advertisement as inlined images.

Adding an override for this is easy, but you need to be aware of that.

Paperless skipping Inline Attachments

Hi there,

when attaching a pdf on Apple Mail on macOS apparently the document is attached differently than on some other clients.

here is an excerpt of the Mail:

--Apple-Mail=_C1D774F2-9286-4AF1-B39A-F21DDFCFB36A
Content-Disposition: inline;
	filename=REDACTED.pdf
Content-Type: application/pdf;
	x-unix-mode=0644;
	name="REDACTED.pdf"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

If I attach the document via WebMail it looks like this

--=_cc354e7e2097e4e73a8e0855eb690035
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Type: application/pdf;
 name=REDACTED.pdf
Content-Disposition: attachment;
 filename=REDACTED.pdf;
 size=41600

If the attachment is "inline" i get the following line in the debug log of Paperless-ng:

11/29/20, 4:19 PM DEBUG Rule REDACTED.ALL: Skipping attachment REDACTED.pdf with content disposition inline

Is there a reason for skipping inline attachments?

Thanks

Well, the test case clearly complains about 'Space Tag' not being found, so something might be amiss here.

If other forms are working, i.e., the tag/type/correspondent create/edit forms, the only thing that's special about this page is the inclusion of an <object> tag that displays the document.

There's nothing wrong with the file handling logic, just and invalid warning that was raised when the file wasn't in the media directory yet during consumption.

Can confirm. The Tab in Safari 14.0.1 on macOS 11.0.1, just hangs and has to be closed once i click on the pencil icon. I've also tried the Safari 14.1. Technology Preview, same behaviour.

Support bulk editing

I want this and I'm drafting the UI right now. I'm thinking about a Bulk-Edit dropdown button with all the operations listed, and popups for additional information / delete confirmations.

Bulk operations I can think of right now.

  • Add/Remove Tags, Correspondents, Types
  • Delete
  • Re-assign metadata by matching rules
  • Redo OCR (this will come in handy later, when OCRmyPDF is in the dev branch). This will allow users to embed OCR'ed text into existing documents from the web page

I'll also need API support for this.

Bug: No error log when broker cannot be reached

I somehow messed up mapping the correct directories, nevertheless - apparently PL-ng wasn't able to write to the docs folder and therefore uploading a file failed. But I couldn't find any proper log in the docker logs nor in the UI

The log on the web UI is not designed to show configuration errors. It's for paperless-specific messages only.

Same problem. For example, I can open /documents/271 just fine on Edge/Chrome, but noting happens on Safari...

I'm on MacOS 11.0.1, Safari 14.0.1.

Tried several views (grid, list etc) and as soon as I click the edit button, the site hangs. Even refresh doesn't work. I have to open a new tab and there the site opens fine but same problem when I click the edit button. Strange stuff! It might be a Big Sur related issue, since you are on 10.15........

Thank you. This error was meant to be there as a indication that a file is not available anymore when its filename is about to get changed, however, during consumption, its filename was assigned and changed due to matching rules when the actual file wasn't copied into place yet. This causes the above error.

The file is still available at its saved location. The sanity check will not detect any issues, if you were to run it now.

Hey, after throwing in a couple of items into the consumption directory, I get this error on quite a few (but not all) files:

11/29/20, 8:47 AM INFO Document 20201129084623: 1195_201101094445_001 consumption finished

11/29/20, 8:47 AM INFO Consuming 1195_201101094445_001.pdf

But apparently it is there (again):

$ ls "/usr/src/paperless/src/../media/documents/originals/none/none/2020-11-29-0846237063410100 1195_201101094445_001 - Typ none-0000432.pdf"`

And at least this file also made it into paperless, i.e. I can see it in the UI. Consumption dir is empty. I'll have to check if all files really made it - still that critical warning seems unwanted to me :-)

Anything else, I can provide?

Ah, right should have thought of file name format: PAPERLESS_FILENAME_FORMAT={tags[kategorie]}/{correspondent}/{created} {title} - Typ {tags[typ]}

Database backend is sqllite

P.S.: Could it be that the original pl did not use miliseconds for the crated date when setting the name? (2020-11-29-0846237063410100) Could that also be the issue that the name is derived twice and differs regarding the miliseconds?

Mass-Edit (for tags, document type and correspondent)

Especially when new to paperless or when introducing new tags or document types, a way to assign a tag/type to multiple documents at the same time would quite very handy. In the case of setting it up, this might apply also to correspondents.

I could imagine, to enter multi edit mode from the search results and then just providing a drop-down for add tag, remove tag, change type, change correspondent and then select the appropiate. When removing tags of course all tags or at least those which are carried by at least one of the results should be given as choice.
