Ask questionsDocumentation is silent on how to create a database on disk

The documentation doesn't tell (at least in places where I have looked) how to create a database file or directory using Python or R. I've tried to pass dbdir but that doesn't fly:

> con <- dbConnect(duckdb::duckdb(), dbdir='.')
Error in duckdb_connection(drv, dbdir = dbdir, debug = debug) :
  duckdb_startup_R: Failed to open database
> con <- dbConnect(duckdb::duckdb(), dbdir=getwd())
Error in duckdb_connection(drv, dbdir = dbdir, debug = debug) :
  duckdb_startup_R: Failed to open database

From browsing these pages, I do get the impression this feature exists.

cwida/duckdb

Doesn't do the trick for me, I debugged duckdb_connection(), I see the expansion happening and .Call(duckdb_startup_R, dbdir) failing. Will dig deeper at some later point.

useful!
