Sorry for replying so late.

Personally I don't use the bot since nearly a year now.

However, etoro has slowly increased their protection against bots over the last few months. Whenever you request multiple etoro webpages within a short period of time, you will be temporarly blocked (you can try by hand and you will see that behavior of etoro).

Now you may have to know how the bot works:

1. It looks at the portfolio page of the trader you like to copy and gets there a list of all instruments this trader is trading.
2. Then it opens each instrument of the trader and gets a list of all trades this trader has for that specific instrument
3. Lastly it opens the history page of that trader to verify closed trades.

Hence if a trader has 50 different instruments he trades (for example 30 different stocks, 10 currency pairs and 10 crypto positions) then the bot need to open 52 web pages of etoro for every time you run the bot. Hence coping traders with many positions with this bot is nearly impossible without being identified by etoro.

I actually do not know how other bots work, but the following bot seems to work also for traders with many possitions: https://etorodiscordbot.herokuapp.com/

Sorry that I can't solve your issue. But I think it's probably a fundamental design error of my bot with the new bot protection method of etoro...

Bad new : The script is detected as a bot and blocked. Error 1020 from cloudflare.

@wangee thanks for your answer. been trying to run it with different profiles but unfortunately not successful. it only show blocked....wish it could work every time coz its amazing functionality Maybe etoro changed some code.

Perhaps can you edit eToroSBot.bash script and add the -v parameter to all the lines where curl is called.

hey @captjones not missing too much ahahah. Its just that all the functionality is really interesting. Besides the idea is just to have an idea about the strategy of some of these guys. :)

Thanks for tuning in, oriebrij. The other bot is back online at Herokuapp, so you're not missing out on anything. There's still backup options such as copying trader through another trader and following trader's trades manually (which isn't that bad. You can often buy the stock at a cheaper price since they tend to drop a little afterwards).

In a while loop, When etoroSbot detects a failure, it shows a message, starts sleeping and retries. It it fails again, it shows another "Seems blocked from etoro" message and sleeps twice longer... and so on. The script keeps running. Most of the time, etoro unblocks after a few minutes.

Having same problem.. you think they will unblock? Coz im trying even my portfolio but im not receiving any details... :(

ah can't test - now that u cant buy cfd and u have to buy the underlying asset, u cant short (button not available in etoro UI) - so currently see this error (although this is correct that it errors)

originally I had (but it was part of a larger program so couldnt directly see the results) - however nice shout on the btc - will test locally now. wonder if my issue may have been due to some positions requiring larger SL/TP - but will investigate. thank you for the response!

For the sell positions is required to specify SL and TP values, have you done that? You can verify it with Bitcoin its market is open even on weekends.

hi, at the moment you can only set SL or TP ("takeProfitRate" or "stopLossRate") as a price and not in %, it's possible to rebuild this logic you can modify method "openPosition()" in EtoroHttpClient class

about place order API I don't have this at the time, you can try to implement it just like openPosition method. But first you have to find out which REST API etoro uses for that.

• Does this scrape data already being sent by etoro or does it fetch data on its own every second or so?
• Is there a way to get info about currently open positions?

and I guess for bonus points, is there a way to place an order rather than 'at market'? - might even be worth opening up a proxy that u can just jam requests at and it adds the necessary headers. happy to offer some help making any of this possible if it isnt already :)

Perfect, sorry I'm an idiot who didn't read the readme properly! Many thanks! Only remaining question is can you set a takeprofit / set a stop loss based on percentage like in the real api, ie take profit of 5% - or do you need to calculate the TL rate manually? Promise I checked the docs first this time :)
