testMode does not print anything in the console.log

Hi, thanks for the work on migrating the react-ga to GA4

I'm trying to use this one, but cant get it to work or print anything in the console:

This is my custom hook:

const TRACKING_ID = 'G-XXXXXXX';

browserHistory.listen((location) => {
  ReactGA.set({ page: location.pathname });
  ReactGA.pageview(location.pathname);
});

export const useGA = () => {
  const { authStore } = useStores();
  const { isAuthenticated, user } = authStore;

  useEffect(() => {
    if (isAuthenticated) {
      console.log('initializing');
      ReactGA.initialize(TRACKING_ID, {
        testMode: true,
        gaOptions: {
          userId: String(user?.id),
        },
      });
    }
  }, [isAuthenticated]);
};

I set testMode to true in order to have the logs (like the react-ga debug flag). Also, I'm using the G-XXX type of tracking id but I cant see anything updating in the GA dashboard. Am I missing something?

all event properties are required

label, value, nonInteraction, transport

Are all required event values for some reason. I think they should only be optional.

event: ({ category, action, label, value, nonInteraction, transport, ...args }?: {
        category: any;
        action: any;
        label?: any;
        value?: any;
        nonInteraction?: any;
        transport?: any;
    }) => void;

Thanks for the PR! The typings are generated through JSDocs comments in ‘src/ga4.js’, run ‘npm run build’ to regenerate

Is it possible to set a custom user id?

It would be great to have a little more information in the Readme.

Thanks!

testMode does not print anything in the console.log

You can use Google Analytics Debugger Chrome Extension to see logs. testMode are only to prevent sending to Analytics

Backward compability with v4

In v5

readXlsxFile() now doesn't skip empty rows or columns: it only skips empty rows or columns at the end, but not in the beginning and not in the middle as it used to.

Yes, i want to use latest version, but it have big breaking changes, by adding the option , in latest version, to make possible to skip empty lines again would solve this

@ckarras11 Yes, you can either use GA-XXX or UA-XXX.

Multiple trackers are not supported. But it may be possible by instantiate manually import { GA4 } from 'react-ga4/ga4'; const otherInstanceReactGA = new GA4();. Though I have not tested that.

I added the alias method .pageview() now. Previously you could call by .send('pageview')
