Stale(?) references to activation histograms

@jvishnuvardhan it seems that my screenshot still shows the histograms of the VGG16 network that I used in my earlier example. I wanted to switch the screenshot as well as the code, but apparently I missed the former. (You can also see that the layer names are different.)

But still: yes, MobileNet has more types of parameters than VGG16, so it shows more histograms. But all of these shown I understand more as weights, definitely not as activations. So your gist does show the issue: activation histograms are missing.

Just now, it was at "yesterday at 06:27". So it has updated, but again, more than 24(+4) hours ago. I remember opening the app yesterday night, which did not trigger an update apparently - not sure is that should have an effect.

Anyway, let's hope 1.2.0 has something so say about this :)

I have a similar idea for the Keras interface: instead of

model = vgg16.VGG16()
model.compile(loss="mse")
model.fit(...)

it would be nice to be able to do

vgg16.VGG16().compile(loss="mse").fit(...)

And I think all it takes in this examples is a simple return(self) here: https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/b36436b087bd8e8701ef51718179037cccdfc26e/tensorflow/python/keras/engine/training.py#L462-L470 https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/b36436b087bd8e8701ef51718179037cccdfc26e/tensorflow/python/keras/engine/training.py#L555-L557

Is the project still maintained?

I think it is fair to conclude that this project is not maintained any longer. Missing functionality is unlikely to be added. Also, the more TensorFlow evolves, the more incompatibilities will be introduced, and the less likely a simple change from keras to tf.keras will make it work. People should consider using https://github.com/keisen/tf-keras-vis/ instead, or live with having to use an old, unsupported version of TensorFlow and Keras instead.

This is probably due to rounding errors because ggtext breaks down the test into individual pieces and calculates where they should be placed.

Thanks - this explains why the second part jumps around while the first one remains pixel-perfect. I'm already at a quite high resolution - what I did was to lower the resolution, which fixed the issue for now.

But the main memory allocation happens during reading anyway, with close to 19 GB. That is already quite something.

By the way, ImageMagick seems to have a similar issue in principle but, using the same data, I only need a peak 12-13 GB of memory for the who conversion, much closer to what I expected. https://askubuntu.com/q/573712/

One approach, proposed for ImageMagick but probably valid for magick as well, would be to process files in batches: https://askubuntu.com/a/573731/528485

High memory usage

Hi, I noticed that loading a bunch of images (png format, 2400x1800, no alpha channel that I am aware of), which should require some 2400x1800x3 bytes in memory, so around 13 megabytes per image, consumes approximately 50 megabytes per image (measured by top). This means the simply procedure of merging 200 of these png files in a gif file requires at least 10 GB of memory just to read the images. During the course of the conversion (see code below), memory usage increases to just under 30 GB, which I find an insane amount.

        pngs <- magick::image_read(frames, strip = TRUE)
        gifs <- magick::image_animate(pngs, fps = fps, dispose = "previous")
        magick::image_write(gifs, filename)

Are there options that I can use to reduce the memory requirements? Is there some streaming approach where files are read and written in batches?

Thanks, the test cases look good so far. The one I posted above is the first odd one I encountered in a while, but I'll keep my eyes open for new ones.

One oddity to me (probably a side issue that might be further discussed elsewhere) is the rounding. While I can understand that

humanize.naturaltime(2*365*24*60*60 - 1)

is 1 year, 11 months ago and not 2 years ago, because the year is not complete yet and we don't celebrate birthdays early ("how long ago was it?" - "2 years?" - "not yet!"), my intuitive expectation of

humanize.naturaldelta(2*365*24*60*60 - 1)

is actually 2 years - because with deltas ("how long did it take?"), I feel rounding is much more natural.

So for 101_943 / 1_000_000, I'd probably expect 102 milliseconds.

Docs: incomplete description of callbacks.ModelCheckpoint's save_best_only parameter

URL(s) with the issue:

https://www.tensorflow.org/api_docs/python/tf/keras/callbacks/ModelCheckpoint

Description of issue (what needs changing):

  1. mode: "{auto, min, max}" should be {auto, min, max}, I guess (minor)
  2. save_best_only: I believe the description is incomplete. With save_best_only=True, not only will "the latest best model [...] not be overwritten": but also the current model is not written at all, even if it has another filename than the "latest best model". This is kind of implied by the name of the parameter, but the description should include that, too.

I just got

Testing completed in 2 seconds, that is 101943 microseconds per sample.

By setting a minimum_unit, I had expected humanize to be smart enough to first choose milliseconds, then microseconds, etc. - that is, output "102 milliseconds", in this example. Is this intended?

Unable to download thumbnail for YouTube video

may be related to PR #25717

Related, yes, but nothing more. That PR is not merged yet, and converts webp files after download to jpg files with --embed-thumbnail. This is not the case here, the thumbnail is not even downloaded correctly.

issue commentbillziss-gh/sshfs-win

Key + Password authentication using cmd

I am working on a workaround using the PuTTY agent (actually, the KiTTY kageant.exe) and ssh-pageant.exe that I would like to discuss, maybe here [because it might solve your problem], or maybe in a different issue. I am doing it like this for now (don't care about dangling processes yet, need to get it to work first):

set SSH_AUTH_SOCK=%TEMP%\ssh-pageant.socket
if exist %SSH_AUTH_SOCK% rm %SSH_AUTH_SOCK%
ssh-pageant.exe -a %SSH_AUTH_SOCK% > %SSH_AUTH_SOCK%.out
rem replace %% by % to run in Command window
for /f "usebackq" %%F in (`grep -E "SSH_PAGEANT_PID=[0-9]+" -o %SSH_AUTH_SOCK%.out`) do (set %%F)

This sets %SSH_AUTH_SOCK% and %SSH_PAGEANT_PID% such that subsequent calls like this work:

"C:\Program Files\SSHFS-Win\bin\ssh.exe" user@host echo "SSH connection test successful"; exit

(Note that this is the Cygwin ssh.exe shipped with SSHFS-Win - it we could use any other ssh.exe, we'd be done already.)

However, when starting ssh.exe through sshfs-win.exe, the agent is simply not used. I use

"C:\Program Files\SSHFS-Win\bin\sshfs-win.exe" svc \sshfs.kr\user@host\/ X: user -o ssh_command=bin/ssh.exe,umask=000,create_file_umask=133,create_dir_umask=022 -d -o loglevel=debug3

which prints

executing <bin/ssh.exe> <-x> <-a> <-oClearAllForwardings=yes> <-oUserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null> <-oStrictHostKeyChecking=no> <-oPreferredAuthentications=publickey> <-oIdentityFile="/cygdrive/c/Users/bers/.ssh/id_rsa"> <-oPort=22> <-ologlevel=debug3> <-2> <user@host> <-s> <sftp>

and, further down,

debug1: Will attempt key: /cygdrive/c/Users/bers/.ssh/id_rsa explicit [this file does not exist]
debug1: Will attempt key: C:\\Tools\\.ssh\\some.openssh.key explicit [this file is encrypted]

By contrast, when running the same command, in the same terminal, myself

C:\Program Files\SSHFS-Win>bin\ssh.exe -x -a -oClearAllForwardings=yes -oUserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null -oStrictHostKeyChecking=no -oPreferredAuthentications=publickey -oIdentityFile="/cygdrive/c/Users/bers/.ssh/id_rsa" -oPort=22 -ologlevel=debug3 -2 user@host -s sftp

I get this:

debug1: Will attempt key: bers bers RSA SHA256:12346123461234612346123461234612346 agent [success!]
debug1: Will attempt key: /cygdrive/c/Users/bers/.ssh/id_rsa explicit [this file does not exist]
debug1: Will attempt key: C:\\Tools\\.ssh\\some.openssh.key explicit [this file is encrypted]

So it is not the environment, not the executable and not the command line. What else might be preventing ssh.exe when called by sshfs-win.exe to access the agent?

Feature request: Ship isort 5

I was trying out

"python.sortImports.args": [
        "--profile",
        "black",
    ],

today, which promises better compatibility between isort and black. However, it seems that the extension ships with an older version of isort that does not support these flags.

user@host:~/.vscode-server/extensions/ms-python.python-2020.6.91350/pythonFiles/lib/python/isort> grep version __init__.py
__version__ = "4.3.21"

Even worse, adding these flags leads to endless "Saving xyz.py: Applying code action 'Sort imports'."

Shipping isort>=5 should solve this.

Wrong thumbnail in mp3 file when downloading audio from videos with identical names

I believe VLC player may be tricking me. Opening the .mp3 file (even a renamed copy of it) in VLC shows the incorrect, red album art. Android music player and ffmpeg.exe are able to extract, from the .mp3 file, the correct green album art is shown.

Wrong thumbnail in mp3 file when downloading audio from videos with identical names

Hmm, that is unfortunate. I am willing to track this down further if anyone is interested. A few thoughts:

  • I wonder if this is related to any kind of caching on ffmpeg's side, which may be different on Windows and macOS. By the way, I am using ffmpeg version 4.3 Copyright (c) 2000-2020 the FFmpeg developers
  • I can still repro it using the code above.
  • I can not repro it using a different pair of YouTube videos with identical titels.
  • I can not repro it after removing --add-metadata, so that certainly plays a role, although I am not sure which one.

If some starts working in this, I guess that problem 2 of #90216 is related - maybe both can be fixed together.

Thanks for the link!

Maybe try changing the scm.providerCountBadge setting to see if it helps you distinguish repos from files more easily.

I tried "scm.providerCountBadge": "visible", but since "Changes" has the badge, too, it does not offer any visual clue that cds is not parallel to "Changes" (see my first screenshot).

  • VSCode Version: 1.47
  • OS Version: Windows 10

I feel that the single-view "Source Control" has some edge(?) cases where the visual separation between repos is missing. See this example: image

I don't know about the general impression, but to me, "cds" and "cia" do not appear to on the same level, visually - cds look more like a child of cia, which it is not.

The same visual impression is even stronger when changes are not collapsed: image

Now cds even appears like one of the changes of cia.

Undocumented breaking change in 1.0.0 release notes

FWIW, we generally don't consider bug fixes to be breaking changes in the sense we use the term in our news files (which is really shorthand for API changes).

Just to note that I am not crazy ;) other projects do handle this differently, compare Google's TensorFlow:

Feature request: save only non-default session settings in portable mode

Would this break all existing session files, because the option is not defined in them? 😕

No - no one is saying that.

This is not about anything "breaking". What Cyd is concerned about is this scenario:

  • Default Session: Setting1 == PreviousValueA
  • Save a New Session with Settings1 == PreviousValueA as SessionX.
  • What we are asking for: do not include Settings1 in SessionX.
  • Now: Default Session: Setting1 <-- NewValueB
  • User opens SessionX
  • Current behavior, and what the user might expect: SessionX.Setting1 == PreviousValueA (explicitly)
  • What we are asking for will result in: SessionX.Setting1 == NewValueB (inherited)

According to my understanding, Cyd is thinking about explicitly setting SessionX.Setting1 <-- PreviousValueA when when you change Default.Setting1 and SessionX.Setting1 does not exist, to match (potential) user expectations that a saved session will never change behavior.

Feature request: save only non-default session settings in portable mode

But what happen if you decide to change some Default Settings after saving you other session ? It won't be efficient if KiTTY have to rescan all sessions files to test for settings that should be added, because it will be changed in Default Settings session !

Why would Kitty need to rescan all sessions?

I believe Cyd considers, when you change Setting1 from PreviousValueA to NewValueB in the Default Settings, going through all saved sessions, checking if they contain Setting1, and if not, adding Setting1=PreviousValueA so that the saved sessions continue to behave as they did at the time of saving. That might explain his rescanning need. (As explained, it's not what I'd want to happen - the point of, e.g., #102 is exactly to be able to modify saved sessions without explicitly touching them.

Feature request: save only non-default session settings in portable mode

Well, if you change some default setting, then it shall apply to all future sessions anyway. It might be a little unintuitive for some if it also applied to past sessions, I agree, but it would in fact be what I would like to happen. So in my use case, you would not even need to traverse all existing sessions.

Also, I expect conflicts like this to occur rarely. How many people ever save the default settings? And if so, how many of these would not want their settings to be applied retrospectively? (And remember, this would only be for settings that had the current sefault value at the time of saving: settings that had a non-default setting at that point in time would already be saved with that value.)

"Problems" re-appear and cannot be hidden after closing a file while it is being linted

Thanks!

The linter should be listening to file close events and remove the diagnostics.

Just to make sure we're still talking about the same issue: my observation is that the linter does remove existing diagnostics when a file is closed. My issue is that new diagnostics are not ignored when the file has been closed while the linter was running in the background after saving the file.

"Problems" re-appear and cannot be hidden after closing a file while it is being linted

The behavior shown in the gif is certainly similar. Certainly the end result is similar: problems continue to be shown for a closed file.

My examples are a bit different in that problems disappear when the linter starts, then re-appear when it's done. So in that case, it's even more clear to see what is going on.

Your gif might also show a different, more general problem removing problems for a closing file irrespective of the linter. But assuming that the TS linter implementation is just a little more advanced and just does not hide the previous problems while the linter is running, I'd agree that your gif is compatible with what I describe.

Connection reset by peer

I had this very same issue - for whatever reason it doesn't matter if you have the path set in the environment variable or not, the path NEEDS to be set inside the command prompt before running the command.

This is not strictly correct. In fact, by issuing

set PATH=C:\Program Files\SSHFS-Win\bin

you are doing much more than adding C:\Program Files\SSHFS-Win\bin to PATH - you are effectively removing everything else from PATH by overwriting it. In effect, as soon as you do this, commands such as net use will fail.

As @dorkbox has commented, adding C:\Program Files\SSHFS-Win\bin before the Windows SSH bin directory works, both within and outside of that command prompt. That is basically

set PATH=C:\Program Files\SSHFS-Win\bin;%PATH%

But that is only a workaround, as you probably do not want to use SSHFS' ssh.exe system-wide. (There is a reason you had ssh.exe installed before, right?) So let's look at the real problem, which is that

C:\Program Files\SSHFS-Win\bin>.\sshfs.exe ...

should prefer an ssh.exe in the current directory over an ssh.exe somewhere else. The reason why it doesn't is that sshfs.exe sets its own working directory, internally - probably here:

https://github.com/libfuse/sshfs/blob/8340a67b31112a32469cca0e0a94f965d4200021/sshfs.c#L1191

So my proposed fix, without any PATH tinkering even with OpenSSH in the PATH, and without changing working directories, is this:

"C:\Program Files\SSHFS-Win\bin\sshfs.exe" -o ssh_command=bin/ssh.exe user@host: X:

Undocumented breaking change in 1.0.0 release notes

It's a genuinely useful error message

Well, if that is your opinion, I shall agree. As a Python guy, however, who did not even write the above code, it took me almost a day to figure that %>% is from dplyr (how would you know from reading this code?), that ungroup is from dplyr (similar), what the %>% operator does, what an ellipsis is (no other language I know uses this concept under this name), why ungroup(x, y) is not allowed despite the dplyr manual stating that it takes further arguments, etc. etc. Now, all this comes down to R being amazingly less beginner-friendly than Python is, and I don't blame this on dplyr at all. But, since the code does run fine in 0.8.5, and since the 1.0.0 release notes do not mention ungroup() in the section "breaking changes", I did actually not even go through all the steps above at first because I excluded ungroup() as the potential source of the error. That is the part you should fix, in your release notes. It's code that was working before, and your changes to dplyr broke the code. For me, it doesn't matter if the code incorrect and working only by accident (again, I did not write it): it was working, and your change made it break, so that's a breaking change for me. I don't say it's not a useful error message: but the release notes section is not titled "breaking changes without a useful error message that might help you figure out what's wrong in less than a day", it's "breaking changes".

I think you meant x %>% ungroup()

Yes, I did. Well, the maintainer of the code I am using is. I guess. See https://github.com/lujunyan1118/DrugScreenExplorer/issues/1

"Problems" re-appear and cannot be hidden after closing a file while it is being linted

I am not sure your explanation matches my issue - I can reproduce this issue for files both within and outside of the workspace. (I use a two-folder VS Code workspace based in /home/bers/proj1, with folders . and ../proj2. I can reproduce the issue for files /home/bers/bug.R as well as /home/bers/proj2/bug.R.) So if your explanation rests heavily on the fact the file is inside the workspace folder, it's probably not the correct one.

Once again for clarity: the file in question is not open at the time the linting problems re-appear, and it is not in the workspace folder.

"Problems" re-appear and cannot be hidden after closing a file while it is being linted

Describe the bug I think I observed that "Problems" are removed/hidden when a file is closed. However, when I close a file while linting is running (especially if that takes a few seconds), the problems re-appear after the file is closed and cannot be hidden. If "Show Active File Only" is checked, then these problems are not actually shown, but still counted, compare this screenshot: image

To Reproduce

  1. Create and save a long-linting .py file (the one below works great, takes many seconds)
  2. Make a change and save the file
  3. Wait for linting to start (you'll notice the problems in the list disappear), then quickly close the file

Do you want to fix by self? (I hope your help!)

No

Expected behavior I'd expect problems to not re-reappear for a closed file, similar to how problems are removed for a file that has completed linting at the time it is closed.

Environment (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows 10 2004, Remote SSH into Linux
  • VSCode Version: 1.46.1
  • R Version: 3.5.0
  • vscode-R version: 1.4.2

Additional context

I'd expect VS Code to ensure the expected behavior, but it seems to be up to the extenions to ensure this. https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/100646

Risk state is not updated.

I hate to ask this, but is it ensured that the risk state updates without changing battery settings and without opening the app? I assume that most of the people here checked the risk state updates (probably) after changing battery settings and (surely) by opening the app. I myself have not yet changed battery settings yet, and it seems the risk state is (only) updated upon starting the app.

So what happens with people who install the app in a rush, but don't change battery settings and then never open the app again? They will probably not have their risk state updated, nor be aware of this. Previously, I had problems with missed notifications with the Signal messaging app for weeks (on a Huawei P30) until I changed battery settings - this would be dramatic for CWA.

[Feature request] Multi-root: Allow disabling tests (discovery/prompts/...) for a root

@bersbersbers this prompt you showed should only be displayed if you trigger test discovery (i.e. if you click on the "discover tests" button in the test explorer view or run the Python: Discover Tests command).

I am not sure. I'd say "no", I get this prompt the first time I open the "Test" panel in each session.

I cannot say if automatic test discovery is on or not, but I have set this in my user settings:

"python.testing.autoTestDiscoverOnSaveEnabled": false,

You can also disable all test frameworks by adding the following to the .vscode/settings.json file in your docs repo:

 "python.testing.unittestEnabled": false,
 "python.testing.pytestEnabled": false,

Seems plausible, but does not work. This is my docs repo .vscode/settings.json:

{
    "python.testing.promptToConfigure": false,
    "python.testing.unittestEnabled": false,
    "python.testing.pytestEnabled": false,
    "python.testing.nosetestsEnabled": false,
}

Still,

  1. I get the "No test framework configured (unittest, pytest or nosetest)" prompt
  2. When clicking "Discover Tests", I still get a prompt to select the workspace (code or doc - where doc makes no sense, so the whole prompt makes no sense as only a single option remains).

split_dns_anon.py.txt

There's three places you need to do changes, lines 16/17 for the company nameserver IP and their suffix; and optionally line 107 to select a different resolver. I experimented a bit with different options:

  • ExternalFirstCompanySecondResolver: for every request, try the external nameserver. Only if that does not give a valid answer, try the company nameserver.
  • ExternalCompanySplitResolver: if name ends with company suffix, use the company nameserver, else use the external nameserver. My current choice.
  • CompanyOnlyResolver: if name ends with company suffix, use the company nameserver, else do not resolve.

If, like you, you use this nameserver only on the VPN interface, what you chose here has to be somewhat compatible with what the unmodified nameserver returns for the same IPs, as Windows pretty much queries different nameservers on different interfaces simultaneously.
