OS Version [macOS/Windows/Linux]: WINDOWS Live Share Extension Version: v1.0.3206 Target Platform or Language [e.g. Node.js]: ts&c#

What were you doing when you encountered the desync? basically every live-share session i ever had on vscode

How often have you encountered desyncs? every time i use it

!! it is never automatically detected (i have not even realized that there is any kind of detection for this until i read tickets here) !!

i join any session.. after a few minutes error highlighting just fails and is stuck with the errors that are displayed at that time. when i save a file, vscode just deletes lines somewhat randomly and it seems like its deleting different lines on different participants files when closing a file without saving, lines get deleted anyway, even when the other participant has the same file open sometimes i have 2 tabs of the same file open, with different states (second tabs gets opened when another participant opens the same file) often we have different code states on every participants screen e.g. i wrote a whole class, and the other guy just sees duplicate codeblocks at the end

I NEED A BLOODY SYNC BUTTON PLEASE!! :)

i have reinstalled it and now, when i am joining my collaboration space through the same device then i am able to join it but still no one else is able to join it.

Activating extension failed - uv_os_get_passwd returned ENOENT

Assuming that code uses

os.userInfo()

to get the username. However on linux/ubuntu this will inspect the /etc/passwd/ file for the logged in user which won't be there for cases the username is stored centrally, for example when LDAP is used.

In a command prompt the username can't be requested from the /etc/passwd/ file (which os.userInfo() seems to be making use of) but can be retrieved using getent

Signing into Live Share crashes Mac Big Sur

I'm going to close this Issue - Even though the action of signing into VSCode Live share caused a Kernel Panic to happen, reviewing the Kernel log, it was because of a conflict with another network app (In this case, Cisco Any-connect) that was the root issue - Not sure why there was a conflict. However, having uninstalled the app, VSCode now logs in and starts a Live Share as seamlessly as before

Stuck on sign in after signing in with Microsoft or GitHub account.

FIX I found a way to fix my problem, in case that helps anyone.

If you have GitDuck installed (another sharing extension), uninstall it and restart VS Code. I think it overwrite or hook the fetch function, causing the actual issue.

If you don't have the extension, follows these instructions.

  1. Click on "Help" in the navbar.
  2. Click on "Toggle Developer Tools".
  3. Click inside the Devtools and press CTRL + R to reload VS Code.
  4. If you get a fetch error while trying to connect with Github, follow step 5.
  5. Try to figure out which extension conflicts with Liveshare.

Hope it will help.

Extension Host crashing on loading Python

@mavaddat do you experience the same problem with stable VSCode?

I am sorry, @olegoid, I am not able to reproduce the issue because I do not have both stable and insider channels (two VSCode installs). I only have the insider build. If I may, I would like to cross mention this issue on another extension (ms-python.python) which I posted: https://github.com/microsoft/vscode-python/issues/14796

Can't join my team project

Issue Type: <b>Bug</b>

Hi, I installed visual studio code and live share on my brand new pc but I can't join my team's project. It seems that all the buttons in the live share extension doesn't work and I can't see my contact info either. When I load the link to join, there is no notification to tell me that I joined. I tried to reboot multiple times, uninstall/reinstall. VSC seems to work when I am not online. Thank you in advance, Samuel Gauthier

Cannot see my co-developers page. He cannot see mine.

Upon starting up Live Share, I can view my co-developer's name, and can see that he is in my session. I can also see the name of the page he's currently viewing, but we can't collaborate at all. I can't see the page he's working on, and he can't see mine. We've looked up many tutorials and nobody seems to have this issue.

GitHub username appears as "null" in Recent contacts list

Describe what happened: When signed into Live Share via my GitHub account my username is displayed as "null" in the Live Share Contacts view on other machines. This is especially confusing because I sign into different accounts on my work computer and it's not immediately obvious to me which entry in the contacts view is associated with my personal computer which is signed-in to Live Share via GitHub.

What was your system configuration? 1.51.1 Product and Version: VSCode 1.15.1 OS Version: Windows 10 Live Share Extension Version: v1.0.3206 Target Platform or Language: Web/JavaScript

Steps to Reproduce / Scenario:

  1. Sign-in to Live Share via GitHub on one computer.
  2. On another computer signed-in to Live Share under a different account initiate a collaboration session with the first computer.
  3. Hover over the account from the first computer in the Recent contacts list.
  4. The username is displayed as "null".
